Drought-tolerant landscaping

For years our rental property yard has been a neglected weedy eyesore. Trying to maintain it along with our own home yard, as we aged was becoming more and more difficult. The insurance company’s non-renewal notice at the property for overhanging trees was the final straw. After tree removal, we started our search for landscape designers with the criteria: low maintenance, drought tolerance and fire resistance. Using Yelp we found Oakplant Landscaping with highly favorable reviews. It was a great pleasure working with the Oakplant team. Very professional, knowledgeable, hardworking and sensitive to any client questions or concerns. Project scope incorporated existing shrubs and trees, a new patio and entry walkway, a fuel-free gravel pathway around the house, native plants, and a drip irrigation system. Owner Felipe Alves provided diagrams that showed the new hardscaped areas, irrigation system and plantings. He guided our selection of pavers, stepping stones and gravel for the hardscape. Felipe helped us to further refine these areas with suggestions for edging, borders and stair installation that really gave it a finished look. Ivy Alves prepared a planting plan and detailed plant list that included our requested plants and more. She is an expert and we spent a lovely morning with Ivy and Felipe at the nursery looking at the proposed plants; their care, attributes and placement. Walking through the nursery with Ivy was like taking a Master Gardener’s tour. We are very happy with the final outcome. Oakplant Landscaping transformed the yard into a beautiful asset that will continue to improve over time as the plants mature. They also completed the project under budget and ahead of schedule. We highly recommend Oakplant Landscaping and look forward to working with them again at our personal residence.

The Oakplant team are the best gardeners I have ever hired. EVER. Started when promised, finished when promised and came in on budget. Masters of irrigation. Dream team for design and plant choices. And, they won't sell you something you do not need. They are so good and so attentive to the plants, irrigation, layout and all things gardening. I added their monthly maintenance to make sure the garden continues to stun as time goes by. Goodbye to the blow-and-mow team. That is no longer considered gardening in my book. Oakplant Landscaping will not disappoint!

I cannot recommend Oakplant Landscaping enough! Felipe, Ivy, and Maria transformed my once desolate front yard into a stunning drought-tolerant garden oasis that I now absolutely love. Their work was nothing short of exceptional, from removing a deeply rooted tree stump to plant and lighting selection and installation. They also upgraded our sprinkler system to a modern, efficient drip system, which has been a game changer in water savings. The team also brought my dreams of a lush, low water “lawn” to life by helping us install kurapia. Now that the kurapia has grown deep and wide, my dogs have plenty of space to frolic. And the zone appropriate and drought-tolerant plants they helped install not only look amazing but are also fantastic for attracting pollinators, adding even more life to the garden. What impressed me most about the Oakplant team was their knowledge, communication, and attentiveness. They’re a small but mighty family-owned business and they’re a joy to work with and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. My wife and I can’t say enough great things about Oakplant Landscaping! From start to finish, the entire experience was absolutely fantastic. Felipe and Ivy are a dynamite team—creative, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. They were flexible with the design, offered thoughtful suggestions, and showed endless patience as we worked together to create a layout we truly love. Garden refresh and maintenance

Finally, a landscape and gardening team that can do it all! We hired Oakplant to do a refresh of our garden and now use them for ongoing maintenance. Everything turned out fantastic and our garden has never looked better! During the project phase, Felipe, Ivy, and Maria listened to our needs and came up with a plant list and layout plan that also integrated many of our existing plants. They explained the pros and cons of different options, were always patient with answering questions, and stayed mindful of our budget. We were so happy with the finished result, that we also decided to engage them for ongoing maintenance and could not be happier. The entire team is not only knowledgeable about plant care and irrigation, but they also do a thorough job with weeding and general clean-up. Highly recommend the Oakplant team!

Garden maintenance and irrigation repair

Last year we had our front yard landscaped by a professional designer and installation crew. The garden looked wonderful for several months, with dozens of native plants and ground cover irrigated by a drip system. Over time, the garden outgrew its well-groomed appearance, and a couple of the plants seemed to be dying. New to gardening, we were uncertain how to maintain our “investment.” We decided to reach out for help in troubleshooting and re-establishing our garden's lovely appearance. We contacted Oakplant Landscaping based on their stated mission and expertise. Felipe and Ivy visited our yard. My wife and I determined very quickly that they had the care and expertise we were looking for, with a philosophy and aesthetic that matched ours. They recognized all of our plants and immediately detected problems with the drip irrigation that were causing some plants to die. Felipe clearly explained their services and costs, and we were happy that they matched the budget we were expecting. They have completed the initial pruning, emitter check and repair, and overall cleanup. We arranged to have them maintain the garden on a quarterly basis, and we are so happy to have found them!

Oakplant Landscaping exceeded all my expectations! Not only are they extremely professional, but they’re also a family-owned business that works with deep knowledge, care, and true dedication in every detail. From the very first contact, it was clear how qualified and attentive they are. The project was thoughtfully designed, and the most amazing part is that the final result looked exactly like the plan — if not even more beautiful in real life! They truly understand plants, layout, and everything it takes to create a well-designed garden. They installed a complete irrigation system flawlessly and used native California plants, which brought even more beauty and sustainability to the space. They never try to sell you anything unnecessary, just honest, thoughtful work. I highly recommend them! Landscape design and planting

We hired Oakplant to landscape our property and could not be happier with them. They are thoughtful, skilled and experienced. Their work is beyond wonderful. Our job involved designing, regrading, installing irrigation and lighting systems, and planting. During the design phase, they developed the landscaping plan and coordinated with another company that graded the beds and installed pavers. Felipe led the hardscape design and suggested where we could install stones and planters. Ivy, who seems to know everything about plants, worked with us to select the plants. She presented us with pictures and information about the features of the different plants. Once we had a final plan, we met at a garden center, picked out the actual plants, and met at a stone supplier to select gravel and stones for the gardens. Oakplant installed drip irrigation and lighting systems in the garden, which work perfectly. Felipe, Ivy, and Maria did the planting. The results are magnificent. We now have a beautiful, low-maintenance, drought-resistant garden. Strangers passing our house stop to compliment us on the beauty of our landscaping, and the lovely flowers are frequented by hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Felipe, Ivy, and Maria are perfectionists who promptly fix anything that isn’t right. We were so happy with Oakplant that we hired them to maintain our garden and are very pleased with their maintenance work.

Landscaping and maintenance

Felipe and his team were very detailed in understanding exactly what we wanted—and they delivered. Everything came out clean, well thought out, and high quality. What really stands out is their continued maintenance and upkeep for a minimal additional fee. They noticed an issue with one of the plants and proactively replaced it without me even asking, and also reset my irrigation system to make sure everything is set up correctly. They stay on top of things and that level of service and accountability is rare. Highly recommend.

Yard cleanup and garden preparation

We found Oakplant on Instagram, and immediately were drawn to their lovely plant designs. We have a yard that hadn't been maintained in a few years and needed a completely fresh start. Our initial meeting with Felipe couldn't have gone any better. He arrived on time, full of positivity, with great ideas, and just gave off a confident and soothing vibe. He is just the kind of person you want to hire to come into your space and take care of things. He put together an initial bid for the work very quickly, and soon after that we arranged for an full clean up of the yard, including the removal of some older trees that weren't doing very well. Felipe checked in with us the night before the first day of work, confirming their arrival - which is so professional and nice, and gave us a great feeling even before we started. Over the next two days, Felipe and his family crew cleaned up our yard so thoroughly that we cannot believe our eyes. Besides pulling weeds, removing rubbish, and making many dump runs, they also neatly piled the decorative rocks that had become mostly buried in the soil, evened out the newly created soil beds, planted an old mosaic table that was falling apart into the ground to create a little gorgeous patio, took out the stumps where the trees were removed and, overall, just created a fresh canvas where our new garden will get installed soon. We couldn't be happier with finding Oakplant Landscaping, and we are so excited for the next steps of designing and installing the hardscape, irrigation and plants. I really recommend these guys. They clearly love what they are doing, and it really shows.

Yard landscaping

Just bought a house and the outside needs a little work? Then Oakplant is your answer. The crew they have are super good at what they do. I hit them up as soon as I was ready and almost immediate service was provided. They were able to come by my place the week I requested them to come and they got to working. We were able get the entire yard done within 2 weeks and I was really happy with what they did. If you're looking for good value AND service, then look no further! 110% happy customer!

Landscape cleanup

Yesterday, Oakplant did a large landscaping cleanup for us. The property looks so much better now: all of the vines and underbrush are gone, trees and bushes trimmed, and just overall a ton of plant material was removed. Felipe and his team did an amazing job, and we look forward to working with Oakplant on the remodel phase once we are ready. Great company and honest!
